Please continue to put stories in your child's "pocket". We are busy learning to zoom in on the important part of our story and add some feeling to them. I call this the inside of the story- the heart. Keep this in mind when helping your child to be prepared to write! Great stories come from the heart.

Each day your children are writing stories about things they have done or things they know about. Sometimes they get stuck for an idea. It is very helpful if you can plant an idea with them before school or at bedtime. I call these pocket stories. The students pretend to place stories in their pockets so when they are stuck for an idea they can reach in and pull one out. We are also working hard on hearing and recording sounds for tricky words, they call it stretching words out. As well we are quickly building our classroom word wall with words they need for reading and writing.
