Daily Update:
We got the day rolling in our usual way. Our spelling word was “instructional,” and our Show, Not Tell prompt was “She was popular.” We had fun brainstorming how to demonstrate “popular” through actions rather than just saying the word! We continued with our Heggerty listening games, worked on building our Read to Self stamina, and did a UFLI lesson focused on using “-es” endings instead of just “-s.” Our writing prompt was “Kind things I see…” and we shared our pieces after we finished.
After Recess:
We fit in a bit of math practice before Allison arrived for Roots of Empathy. It’s been a while since we last saw her, and our excitement got the best of us. We talked about ways to calm down and lower our energy next time—especially if the baby joins us! We focused on why babies cry and what might cause them to be upset.
After Lunch:
Mr. Whalen stopped by to tune our ukuleles, introducing us to a new song. We started off a bit rough, but by the end, we sounded much better! I won’t reveal too much about our new tune, but I think you’ll be surprised by our final performance!
PE:
We warmed up with some basketball and then moved into gymnastics. I’m not a fan of being upside down anymore, so when I saw what was coming, I found a good hiding spot!
End of Day:
After gym, we turned to our Book of Gratitude with the prompt, “Someone who made me laugh today was…” We checked our morning assignments, filled out our Home to School books, and tidied our desks. Those who finished everything earned some free choice time. Not everyone got there, but progress and completion are always my top priorities!
Picture of the Day:
Great music calls for intense focus—and these musicians certainly have it!
