       A PEEK AT OUR WEEK!         November 24-28         Zoo Phonics! Introduce letters Oo and Pp! This week we will meet Olly Octopus and PeeWee Penguin Value Lessons=be sure to practice all week long *Be 0ptimistic and observant! *We are patient, precious, and polite!  Nov. 24- Monday-     * Rocks ‘N Rings!!  Coming from Fredericton to introduce and instruct the fun sport of Curling.                         Return your poetry anthologies      Nov. 25- Tuesday–      *  Hot Lunch Day! Do you know what we are eating today??   Nov. 26- Wednesday-     *Our skating day.  Everyone did so well last time!  Remember- DON’T give up even if it is difficult and be                optimistic! Parents- please remember helmets and ski pants, extra mittens, maybe a bottle of water labelled.  Are the skates sharpened?      Nov. 27- Thursday– * Guidance with Mrs. Sturgeon                                        Poetry folders go home Nov. 28- Friday –     * Pizza Day!          What we’re up to:  Language Arts-  ABC BOOM!  writing strokes!                             Pre-reading skills and concepts of print-                            Phonemic Awareness Rhyme and Syllable awareness, directionality, letters, words, and sentences.                      Writing recipe- Think of a topic, tell your story, draw a picture and write something for each word you say. (hopefully some matching letters and words we’ve been working on!)              Math-      Counting up to the hundredth day.  Numbers to 10 counting forward and back to and from 10.         Number Sense: students learn more about numbers and how they relate to one another- more/fewer, numbers before/after others, count by touch, identify number placement on a number line etc. 5 and 10 frames.      PATTERNS Congratulations to the children! They are real pattern masters!  Christmas offers a wonderful opportunity to see patterns everywhere! Keep your pattern eyes ready!    Our New Unit- Exploring Numbers- Outcomes to Master…          N1-Say the number sequence by 1’s starting anywhere from 1-10 N2-Recognize at a glance and name familiar arrangements of 1-5 objects or dots N3- Relate a numeral to it’s respective quantity N4-Represent and describe numbers 2-10 concretely and pictorially N5-Compare quantities, 1-10, using 1 to 1 correspondence. (More, less, difference between)
