April 7-11, 2014   Here’s   What’s   Up!     Zoo News!  Celebrating blends: students see how letters work together s partners ABC BOOM!  Reviewing the strokes covered and applying them to letter formation *Math Outcome- Exploring Numbers 6 to 10, counting forward and backward, and counting on from any number to 10.  Locating and placing numbers on the “number line”- showing quantities in various forms  what’s one more and one less etc.   Monday April 7th –        Children will bring home their 3 books to read for this week. Listen to your child's reading and watch for the use of strategies. See if they can tell you some. Be sure they stop periodically and check for understanding!               Tuesday April 8th         Hot Lunch day!         *Wednesday April 9th         Teddy Bear Picnic for September’s New Friends- no school for KINDERGARTEN students only.   Thursday April 10th Poetry Anthology – April is Poetry Month! We will begin with Nursery Rhymes, the first poetry most children hear and learn.    Friday April 11th  Pizza Day- please send money in a baggie or envelope labeled with your child’s name and the amount of pieces. To be sure they are collected, place them in your child’s folder . Thanks. *April’s Scholastic Book Order is due today.  Thank you.     OTHER NEWS .  .  .    .KPH Productions needs our help!  Our friends (and former Artists in Residence) Glenn and Elizabeth Copeland and Kids Playhouse Productions are reviving “Barnyard Brains” with their community theater arts group.  They are looking for costumes for the animals.    On another note…their studio had a flood this weekend and they are planning a fundraiser for April 29th and are looking for assistance with this in various areas.    If you can donate yard sale items for the J.M.H. class of ’84 reunion fundraiser, contact us at jmhreunion84@gmail.com.
