Home Learning, May 11th!

Posted: May 11, 2020

Welcome to week 6 of “Home Learning!”

Thanks so much parents for helping your children complete the tasks I’ve been providing. I will remind you once again, these tasks are not intended to cause extra stress in an already stressful time. Please, “do what you can, when you can!” Thanks as well to those that have been emailing some written work. I love to see them and it also allows me to give children some feedback as to what they could work on next. Have a great week everyone! My email address again is jodi.sobey@nbed.nb.ca if you have any questions or concerns!

Good Morning Children!

Today is Monday, May 11, 2020.

I hope you all had a fun weekend celebrating your moms.

My mom is coming to visit me this evening. I am excited.

I did not like the snowy day on Saturday. Did you?

It looks like today is going to be a sunny. Yay!

Have a marvelous day kiddos! Love, Mrs. Sobey

Click on Week 2 tab. Scroll down to page to Day 6, then click on the “Guess The Pond Animal” activity tab. Make a list of the pond animals that were shown in the story and include an action for each (something the animal did).  You may want to go back and watch it again. Once you are done, it might be fun to play a game of charades with your family. You act out and see if they can guess what animal you are.

Your goal for this week is to complete 10 lessons. If you complete at least 2 each day you will reach the goal at the end of the week. Remember if you begin a game, please finish it.

Problem of the Week:

In the pond I spy 5 big frogs and 4 baby frogs. How many frogs all together do I spy in the pond? Do you add or subtract to find the answer?

I would encourage them to draw a picture to help them solve. I will post my work showing the solution on the following Monday morning. I would love to see the student’s work as well. That can be emailed to me at jodi.sobey@nbed.nb.ca.

 * I've posted the answer to last weeks estimation problem. You will be able to find it if you scroll down the page further or you could also find the link under the "Documents" tab.

In addition to the activities suggested above students are encourage to read independently, participate in somephysical activity and complete the task from the “Social-Emotional Learning” calendar.

I've also posted the Weekly STEAM Challenge if you'd like to carry out that activity. The link to that challenge can be found if you scroll down the page further or under the "Documents" tab.
