We have been given our skating dates. Parents are invited to help out at the rink. All skaters must wear helmets. Younger students should wear snowpants and mittens or gloves. Please mark your calanders. We skate on Wednesdays at the LBA from 10:30- 11:30am on the following dates: Nov.13 & 27, Dec. 11, Jan. 15 & 29, Feb. 12 & 26, and March 19th.

The students did an amazing job collecting pledges! This small group of 66 raised $1055.00. Many community members joined in making our walk a huge success. Thanks to all who took part.

Kindergarten registration will take place at Napan Elementary from October 15th to 18th for children who will turn 5 by December 31, 2014 and who start school in September 2014. Register your child for Kindergarten this October and receive information and invitations to be part of activities to support your child’s learning.

Napan School is seeking community volunteers to assist with literacy for Grade 2 students. We are preparing to implement a program called “ELF”. To quote from the organization's brochure: “Elementary Literacy Friends (ELF) is a volunteer-based tutoring program that helps Grade 2 students who are struggling with literacy.  ELF provides training, materials, feedback and all of the support necessary for the tutor to make a positive, lifelong impact not just on an individual child, but on how that child will contribute to society throughout his or her life.” The

Keeping yourself safe while being active. Here are some great safety tips for when you being physically active. 1. Wear proper footwear like sneakers when running or playing sports2. If you are going to be outdoors, remember to apply sunscreen to prevent sunburn3. Bring a water bottle to keep hydrated and prevent overheating4. If you are biking, rollerblading, skateboarding, etc., be sure to wear your helmet.This is the final week of the Go for 42 Challenge. Be active and strive to accumulate 40 kms. Be sure to register for the Mango Kids Fun Run which will be on Sunday, June 23rd at 10:30.

Preparing for physical activity is important! Did you know that it is important to warm up your body before any physical activity? Warming up prepares your body physically and mentally for exercising, and also helps prevent injuries. If you are going for a run, you can warm up with some light jogging followed by some stretching. Is physical activity really good for you? Did you know that by increasing your physical activity you can greatly reduce your chances of getting sick?  You will also be happier and healthier! Playing outside with your friends is a fun and easy way to stay physically active. Running improves your heart, lungs, flexibility, and gives you more energy! Running can also help you improve in other sports.  Don’t forget to get at least 60 minutes of physical activity each day!  Lace up your sneakers and get out there to accumulate Kilometers and “Go for 42.”
