Walkathon for Roots of Empathy fundraiser May 20th, 12:30pm

Posted: May 12, 2011

On Friday, May 20th at 12:30 the students and staff of Napan Elementary  will participate in an In motion Walkathon at the school. This event will raise awareness of the Roots of Empathy program and help provide funds for the training of community volunteers as instructors. The mission of Roots of Empathy is to build caring, peaceful and civil societies, child by child,  through the development of empathy in children. Children who have empathy are less likely to bully others and are more likely to be nice to people. Empathy is caught through our Baby who visits our classroom once a month during the year.  Our school has had this program for 4 years. There are currently 16 programs in District 16 and 2 First Nation communities in our region. Since 2002,  13,000 students in New Brunswick have experienced the program. There will be a prize for the school that raises the most funds as well as the student who raises the most money. Our ROE family Amy & Bradie Gregan  and Melanie Murphy the ROE instructor will be joining us for the walk.
