Daily Update:
We like to begin the day by reviewing yesterday’s work to see how we can improve! Today’s spelling word was responsible, and our "Show, Not Tell" sentence was: "She was excited!" After that, we wrapped up our Heggerty drill and doodled a sparrow. I was really impressed with how fast we transitioned today—everyone finished their work, placed their sheets in their duotang, and gathered on the mat in less than a minute! Remember: Slow is smooth, and smooth is fast! We also looked at today’s exercise: the mountain climber. The Grade 3s did a 15-minute read-to-self while the Grade 2s worked with me on word chains, reading, and spelling. Then, we swapped roles. Afterward, we spent about 10 minutes finishing our quick write about Case, who wasn’t very happy with his hair on picture day.
Math:
We had a special session today! Grade 1s, 2s, and 3s gathered in my classroom for a visit from Allison, who introduced us to the Roots of Empathy program. She’s preparing us for baby Kade’s visit next week! I also sent home a permission form for photos—please check your child’s home-to-school book for it. We are all very excited for next week!
After Lunch:
Mrs. Robichaud stopped by for guidance, where we discussed the differences between appropriate and inappropriate behavior, and how to identify what is safe versus unsafe—important lessons!
In PE:
We had a guest in PE again today—Miss English! She took us outside for some fun games. Who do you think runs faster, her or Mr. Ross?
Day End:
Miss Brown helped with our end-of-day dismissal today since I had a meeting. For our Book of Gratitude, we wrote two sentences, starting with: “I was proud of my effort when I…” We also filled in our home-to-school books with these reminders:
- Wed: Fletcher’s Farm
- Thurs: Terry Fox Run at 1:30
- Fri: Orange Shirt Day
Picture of the Day:
When I asked who wanted to sit in the rocking chair today, I probably shouldn’t have said, “Anyone who wants to!”
