Today in Math, students looked for information in a story problem to subtract a one-digit number from a two-digit number, using their own strategies (hundreths chart, ten frames, etc.)
Activity: Ask your child to solve the following problem:
The teacher hid 25 Easter eggs in the classroom. Sam found 7. How many Easter eggs did the rest of the class find?
Work with your child to create and solve other story problems using subtraction. Have fun!

We started a new unit in Math today titled "Addition and Subtraction to 100". Each student has a letter in his or her Home Folder outlining the learning goals for the unit.
Activity: If your child has a collection of objects at home (stickers, stuffed toys, rocks, etc.) gather some together and ask your child to count the collection in at least two different ways.

We are working on measuring, comparing, and ordering lengths of objects in Grade Two Math.
Activity: Choose three objects in your home that you and your child can measure together (for example, kitchen utensils, sports equipment, etc.) Measure with units such as paper clips, or unsharpened pencils.
