Dear Parents, We have You and Your World today.  We have been talking about Climate and Weather. The Grade 2's have Roots of Empathy today.  Baby Bradie is coming to visit.  There is no school tomorrow and our Pumpking Carving Event is on Friday at 10:30.  K-2 Students

Our Annual Pumpkin Carving Event will take place on Friday, October 29 at 10:30.  Please remember that pumpkins are to arrive already cleaned out and ready to carve.  As well, candles are not permitted.  Some alternatives are; flashlights, battery powered tealights, glowsticks or pumpkin lights (can be found at Dollar store).  No need to register this year...just come along and we will find a place for you to create!  We look forward to seeing you on Friday!

  We will once again be participating in Operation Christmas Child.  The shoeboxes will be available for pick-up on Tuesday, October 26th and we are asking that they be returned by Friday, November 13th.

  The students in Grade 2 will be participating in a program called Roots of Empathy.  A trained instructor will be visiting our class each week to teach the children about feelings; their own feelings and the feelings of others.  Once every 3 weeks three weeks the students will gather around a green blanket to welcome our baby and his parents. Be sure to watch the website for pictures of our classes!

We will begin a new unit in Math on Monday.   Our Unit is...Representing Numbers to 20.  The Learning Goals are; Read and print numbers to 20, Read number words to twenty, Count forward and backwards from 0-20, "Build numbers by arranging and rearranging numbers, Recognize familiar groups of objects or dots,Compare and order numbers and groups of objects using more, fewer, and same, Estimate the number of objects and check by counting, and Use real-life materials to help solve simple number problems.   As you can see the children are going to be busy learning lots about the numbers from 0-20. This outcome will most likely take us to the end of November!!
