February 13th-17th, 2012:
Tuesday, February 14th is Valentine's Day! We will have a class Valentine's Day celebration in the afternoon. We also have our "Heritage Breakfast" in the morning at the Napan Hall.
Wednesday, February 15th - We will be going skating at approximately 10:15 am. Remember to bring your skates and helmet!
Friday, February 17th is the 100th Day of School! We will be celebrating all day long, with lots of activities based on the number 100! It is also Pizza Day.

Homework - There will be no homework this week. However, students should continue to do their daily reading at home.
Skating - We will be going skating on Wednesday, January 11th at 10:15 am. Remember to bring your skates and helmet!

This week in Math, we began working of the "Data Analysis" unit, in which the students will collect, display and analyse data to solve problems. Please note that this will be the final "Home Connection Activity" of the school year.
Activity: Direct your child to ask a question of the family such as: "Do you like orange juice?" Your child can then record the answers of up to ten family members or friends using tallies or checkmarks. Have fun!

The Grade Two students began the "Geometry" unit in Math this week. The students will learn to sort, compare, and describe 2-D (two-dimensional) shapes (e.g., triangles, squares, rectangles, circles), and 3-D (three-dimensional) objects (e.g., cubes, spheres, cones, cylinders, pyramids).
Activity: With your child, look for examples in your home of some of the shapes he or she has learned about, such as circles, triangles, rectangles, and squares. Which do you find most often? Have fun!

The Grade Four students are pleased to announce that our "Cutest Pet Contest" was a huge success! $55 was raised in total for the SPCA, along with donations of pet food, toys and treats. The following are the winners of the "Cutest Pet Contest":
