Our Skating season came to an abrupt end due to our last storm but I would like to note how dedicated the kids were to the sport. All made wonderful progress through their determination to improve. Over the months we could see the pride with every stride! Congratulations!     Happy Birthday to Allie McGrath! She turned   6 years old on April 4th.        April is Poetry Month Children will hear, write and play with poetry throughout the month.  Fun with children’s favorite poems…Nursery Rhymes will also be part of our Language Arts activities.        ZOO Phonics         Students have completed the alphabet and should know each letter and sound.  Now, our focus it to blend them to make words and be able to read nonsense words. (wehave been working at this already, but now with more attention). The goal is automaticity-quick recall speeds on letters and groups of letters. With an adult, Read every night and practice your sight words. Write your spelling words each night. *Math Outcome-the big ideas: number sense! Recognize numerals and match numeral to quantity.  Part-Part-Whole,  5 frames and 10 frames. Students need to have a good understanding of relationships of numbers between 0-10.  Comparing values- Numbers that are more and less than others, the difference between quantities,     Here’s   What’s   Up! April 8 - April 12   Monday  Students go to the library today. Continue to practice your sight words.  We will begin with a “spelling list” to practice on a weekly basis. To avoid confusion or lost money,   please ensure that money is in a container (or baggie) with child’s name and number of pieces, and that it (and any notes or money) is placed in the yellow home folder.  Thank you.

CONGRATULATIONS!   The students and staff have dedicated much time to bring our performance of Barnyard Brains to the Napan Elementary Stage.  On Monday the community had the chance to see our children shine in various facets of fine arts- Actors, Singers, Dancers, Musicians, Visual Arts, Tech Crew (assisted by Craig Duplessie).  Under the direction of Glenn and Elizabeth Copeland, the students brought the play to life.  Students were able to discover and explore their talents and work together to produce a fantastic show and deliver two shows to standing room only audiences!   We were very fortunate to receive the grant from the Department of Culture Tourism and and Healthy Living under the Artist-in-Residency School Program in order to have this opportunity.  Many thanks to The Copelands for bringing Barnyard Brains and your talents to our school. We had quite an experience!       Winter Fun Week Wednesday- Once again, we had a great skate this morning. thanks to all parents who come to help out.
