May 12-16 Here’s   What’s   Up! Zoo News!  Celebrating blends: students see how letters work together s partners ABC BOOM!  Letter/number formation using the strokes *Math Outcome- Continued practice with Numbers to 10 (to 30 using calendar dates on a daily basis), various aspects of numeracy which reinforce concepts of more than/ less than using specific numbers and visual discrepancy, comparing quantities, that whole numbers can be divided into parts using objects and numbers.   New Unit- Shape and Space- Using direct or indirect measurement to solve problems: SS1-comparing 2 objects based on a single attribute length, mass and volume with associated vocabulary SS2-Sort 3D objects using a single attribute and explain the sorting rule (size or shape, corners, roll/slide etc.); learn geometric vocabulary SS3- Build and describe 3D objects        -2D shapes and 3D objects   Monday May 12th –       Children will bring home their 3 books to read for this week. Reading the books more than once/week will improve their confidence and fluency.          Mad Science for those participating          Jump Rope for Heart- all money and envelopes are to be returned by this Thursday, please. ** We are asking that the envelopes be returned even if no funds were collected. Thank you.         Week #1 of Go for 42!!! check the link for more info    Tuesday May 13th-          Hot Lunch day! – Subs are on the menu   *Wednesday May 14         Spaghetti- Home and School          Jump rope money is due.   Thursday May 15th Poetry Anthology – April is Poetry Month! We will begin with Nursery Rhymes, the first poetry most children hear and learn.  Friday May 16th                    Jump Rope For Heart!    today  is  our  jump  rope  event!   Pizza Day- please send money in a baggie or envelope labeled with you   Please have your child’s name and the amount of pieces. To be sure they are collected, place them in your child’s folder . Thanks.     Other News: Go for 42   Fish Friends:  Our eggs have hatched and students are making keen observations and writing about them. They are now at the “alevin” stage living off their food sacks. Some are beginning to wiggle and a few are “fluttering” around the tank. Most are hidden within the rocks now. The kids are really excited to watch the process!

    Monday April 28th - Friday May 2 Here’s   What’s   Up!   Zoo News!  Celebrating blends: students see how letters work together as partners ABC BOOM!  Reviewing the strokes covered and applying them to letter formation *Math Outcome- Exploring Numbers 6 to 10, counting forward and backward, and counting on from any number to 10.  Locating and placing numbers on the “number line”- showing quantities in various forms  what’s one more and one less etc.   Monday April 28th –       Children will bring home their 3 books to read for this week. Reading the books more than once/week will improve their confidence and fluency.  Please review sight words.  Choose a few at random each night!             Tuesday April 29th           Hot Lunch day!   *Wednesday April 30th Last day for students this week due to NBTA Subject Council meetings on Thurday and Friday   Poetry Anthology – April is Poetry Month! We are reading poetry and Nursery Rhymes, the first poetry most children hear and learn.  Thursday May 1sth No School Friday April 11th No School                                          Other News:    KPH Productions is having a fundraising concert featuring local talent on Tuesday April 29th to help with costs of running their new facility on Cunard Street! Glenn and Elizabeth were our Artists in Residence who orchestrated "Barnyard Brains" our school musical production. Be sure they stop periodically and check for understanding!               Tuesday April 8th         Hot Lunch day!         *Wednesday April 9th         Teddy Bear Picnic for September’s New Friends- no school for KINDERGARTEN students only.   Thursday April 10th Poetry Anthology – April is Poetry Month! We will begin with Nursery Rhymes, the first poetry most children hear and learn.    Friday April 11th  Pizza Day- please send money in a baggie or envelope labeled with your child’s name and the amount of pieces.
