Home Learning - beginning tomorrow, Tuesday, January 11th,

Hello Students, Parents/Guardians,

Our home learning for the next two weeks will follow a similar pattern each day.  Students will read each day in English, complete at least 30 minutes of physical activity, complete French activities on the FLORA website, and math activities on the SplashLearn website.  SplashLearn is a website that has activities and games based on topics that are aligned with our curriculum.  I am choosing this website because it will allow me to assign specific tasks and track student progress.  Students will complete the activities “From my Teacher” first, then can practice math facts and/or play math games or complete additional activities on “My Learning Path” with their remaining time.

  •  Read 15-20 min
  • 30 minutes of physical activity
  • Math – Spend 30 minutes on the SplashLearn website.  Click on the box “From my Teacher” and complete those activities first.  Spend any remaining time completing activities in one of the other sections (Math Facts, Math Games, or My Learning Path)

Here is the login information:

Monday, November 29th

Hello Students, Parents/Guardians.

Today, if feeling well, students will complete the DAY 2 work in the learning packet that was sent home.  There are instructions in the packet for Reading, Reading Comprehension, Writing, and Math.

If interested, I am attaching a workbook called “First Aid for Feelings”.  It is a workbook to help children cope during the Coronavirus Pandemic.  This is not required work for today, but you may find information to help students talk about their feelings and help alleviate their emotional stress.  Please email me if you would like to have a printed copy ready for you if you are planning to come to the school to pick up rapid tests.

Good morning Students, Parents/Guardians

Here is a summary of Home Learning for today:

  • Read 15 minutes (in English) and record your reading in your Homework binder.
  • Spend 30 minutes doing some physical activity
  • Today we will meet on TEAMS at 1pm – We will do 30 minutes of French followed by a 30-minute Math Lesson.

For those who are not able to join us on TEAMS for Math:  today, we are going to review the two measurement outcomes that we have been working on.  The first outcome is measuring length (referents for mm, cm, m, and km, drawing and measuring, and the relationship between the units of measure or converting from one unit to another – i.e. 2 cm = 20 mm).  The second outcome is measuring capacity (liquids) using mL and L (having a referent for mL and L, estimating capacity of containers, and the relationship between mL and L).

Follow up practice questions (for everyone) will be on Pages 158-159 #2, #3, #13 and #14

This work will be passed in when we return to school.

Please feel free to contact me via email with any additional questions or concerns at cheryl.carroll@nbed.nb.ca

For those who are not able to join us on TEAMS for Math, we are going to estimate the capacity of some containers by comparing the size of the container to our referents (something about the same size) for 1 mL, 250 mL, 500 mL, and 1L.  Today we will learn how to measure accurately using a ruler and how to draw something a specific length.

Follow up practice questions (for everyone) will be on Pages 124-125 #8, #9, and #16

This work will be passed in when we return to school.
