A PEEK AT OUR WEEK! Nov. 23rd-27th  Zoo Phonics Value Lesson- Encourage others! Focus Letters - Letters Ee/Ff- Ellie Elephant and Francy Fish  Word of the week… Kindergarten- the   Grade 1 - there Nov. 23rd Monday- Welcome back to classes! I hope that you had a great weekend.  Today is Talk Rock Monday –what did you do this weekend?  * Library and Art Day today       Nov, 24th Tuesday – Hot Lunch day                                 French              Nov. 25 Wednesday- Music           Nov. 26th-Thursday–   Guidance today with Miss McKenzie       Nov.27th– Friday – PIZZA Day! Please have money in a labelled holder tks.     Gr.1 Spelling Test                               Return Library Books                               Music   What we’re up to:  Language Arts – Continue work with rhyme, word,and syllable awareness -. The idea of a word beginning with their names, actions and through stories. Breaking words into syllables by counting “claps” blending syllables to determine words. Writing- Children use illustrations, labelling, and dominant sounds to record stories they think of. Stories most often reflect real life experiences as they are easy to write about. They are encouraged to use stories with the sight words. Zoo Phonics! – 26 animals at the zoo will help us learn to read and write. Students have begun to build a “word wall” of High Frequency words as a reference for reading and writing.  I  a  am  see   at   can   come  the I am hoping to post the wall soon!    Math-   Numbers from 1-5; Students go beyond counting and explore numbers as they relate to quantities, and each other.  Key skills are recognizing more/fewer, counting on and back from a given number, Part Part Whole- various combinations to make a certain amount.

I hope that you had a great weekend.     * Library and Art Day today   Nov 10th Tuesday – Remembrance Day Ceremony 10:30 Hot Lunch day     Nov.11 Wednesday- *NO CLASSES – take time to remember.      Nov 12th-Thursday– Guidance today with Miss McKenzie       Nov.13th– Friday –  PIZZA Day! Please have money in a labelled holder tks.     Gr.1 Spelling Test                       Return Library Books   Operation Chrismas Child- There is still time to request and fill boxes, fill out the yellow form that was sent home last week.  I would like to fill a box with the kids if you would like to donate a small item or send a dollar or two to help with the cost it would be most welcome!  As I reflect on my own blessings, may I suggest that  in lieu of a "teacher" gift I would be honoured if your family filled a box or contribute to the class box to give the gift of Christmas to a child  less  fortunate. Christmas is about the children and the spirit of giving.     What we’re up to:  Language Arts – Continue work with rhyme, word,and syllable awareness -. A PEEK AT OUR WEEK! October 26th-30th    Oct.26 Monday- Welcome back to classes!                           Library and Art Day today   Oct.27 Tuesday – our Hot Lunch day,  Toquitos      Oct 28- Wednesday- Guidance today                            Oct 29-Thursday– Photo Retakes          Oct. 30– Friday – Pumpkin Carving at 10:30 with some light entertainment. We will be celebrating Halloween for the last hour of the day. It is optional to send treats with your child, or cost share with others on fruit or veggie trays apple caramel or other “healthy Halloween” treats!                                                           What we’re up to:  Language Arts – We are learning rhyme and word and syllable awareness -Playing with rhyme through books and songs. The idea of a word beginning with their names, actions and through stories. Breaking words into syllables by counting “claps” blending syllables to determine words.    Math:  General Outcome- I can demonstrate an understanding of repeating patterns (2 or 3 elements) by: identifying, reproducing, extending and creating patterns using manipulatives, sounds and actions.      Sorting and Patterning!   Children are learning to sort items based on a single attribute- size, shape, color, gender, clothing etc. We’ve been using groups of items to show how patterns are created using up to 3 elements.  The CORE is the part that repeats.  Using colors, actions, shapes, size, numbers, etc. to show various patterns with 2-3 differences, as well as story and song patterns. Play along with your child, what patterns can you find and create??? Happy Hallowe'en Trick or Treating!!
