Mrs. Sobey

Mrs. Sobey's Class

Posted: June 9, 2020

Dear Grade 1 Kiddos,

Today is “trying” Tuesday. The date is June 9th, 2020.

I am going to try and stay warm at the school today. It has been sooo cold in our classroom.

Do you know what else? It has also very quiet and lonely without you.

What are you going to "try" to do today?

I ended up getting wet last on my walk last night. But, after the rain had stopped I spied a double rainbow.

Did you see it? It was beautiful sight.

I hope you all have a terrific day!

Love, Mrs. Sobey

Good Morning Families!

Welcome to the final week of Home Learning!

I have decided to change the format for this week. I’ve created a “choice” board. Each day students will be able to choose an activity that they would like to complete. They will begin with a “read aloud” and then be assigned a follow-up writing activity. Outside of that, each day I would like them to complete one activity on Dreambox, participate in some physical activity, continue to read independently and take time to do something that makes them smile. I will remind you one final time to “Do what you can, when you can!” This has been a very different time for all of us and I want to thank you all for the effort you put into participating in the Learning activities I’ve provided during this “Home Learning” season. I would love to see some of the writing that your child completes this week. My email address is jod.sobey@nbed.nb.ca. Have a wonderful week and funtastic summer!

Happy Monday Boys and Girls,

The date is June 8th, 2020.

I hope you all had a fun weekend. I sure wish I could hear all about it!

This will be the last week that I give you Home Learning Activities. Your summer vacation will begin on Friday!

I hope you have lots of fun with the ideas I am giving you this week.

Keep working hard, only 5 more days!

Love, Mrs. Sobey

Problem of the Week

There were 11 ladybugs in the garden. Then 4 of them fly away. How many ladybugs are left? Do you add or subtract to find the answer? Don’t forget to include the number sentence along with your picture! (ex. 5+5=10)

I would encourage students to draw a picture to help them solve. I will post my work showing the solution next Monday morning. I would love to see the student’s work as well. That can be emailed to me at jodi.sobey@nbed.nb.ca.

*For Art on Friday, students will need 1or 2 paper plates and other items such as tissue paper, markers, crayons, yarn, bells, googly eyes, pompoms, and any other decorative craft items they can gather up.

In addition to the activities suggested above students are encourage to read independently, participate in some physical activity and complete the task from the “Social-Emotional Learning” calendar.
