I would encourage students to draw a picture to help them solve. I will post my work showing the solution next Monday morning. I would love to see the student’s work as well. That can be emailed to me at jodi.sobey@nbed.nb.ca.

Happy Monday!

I hope you all had a great weekend. We are beginning to wind down in terms of Home Learning. This week will follow the same format that it has been since we’ve begun. Next week will look a little different. I want to remind you all once again to “Do what you can, When you can!” Thank you so much for all you’ve been doing during this season of Home Learning. Please reach out if there is anything I can do to help in any way. My email address is jodi.sobey@nbed.nb.ca.

Dear Grade One,

Today is the beginning of a new week and also a new month. It is the very first day of June.

I hope you all had a super fun weekend with your families.

Oh how I wish I was able to hear all about it this morning during sharing time.

I am headed back to school today to wrap things up and to work on getting ready for September.

It is going to be lonely without all of you and your friends.

I am missing you all so, so much. I can hardly wait until you can come back to school with me.

Have a great day everyone!

Love, Mrs. Sobey

Happy Friday!

The date is May 29, 2020.

It is our last school day for the month of May. Monday will be the first day of June.

I think it is going to be another hot, sticky day.

The worst thing in the world happened last night.

I went outside after dark and couldn’t back in the house without being attacked by June bugs. Yuck!

I had to run to the other door and ring the door bell for someone to come and rescue me.

I really, really don’t like those bugs! Do you?

Have a great weekend everyone. Stay safe and stay cool!

Love, Mrs. Sobey

Warm Up

Partners For 10 Go Fish

  1. Remove face cards from a deck of playing cards (or SkipBo, Uno, any set of cards that has multiple cards with numbers 1-9)
  2. Deal 5 cards to each player.
  3. Look for any tens you can make. If you have two numbers that add to ten, you can make a match.
  4. If you don’t have two numbers that make a ten, players take turns asking for the number they need.
  • For example, if you have an 8, you would need a 2 to make ten, so you would ask your partner if they had a “2”.
  • If your partner does not have a 2, then they would say, “Go Fish,” and you would draw a card from the deck.

5.Play continues until one player has made a 10 from all of their cards or until a certain number of matches is made.(ex. 5 matches)
