pumpkin       Once again we are hosting our family pumpkin carving event this Friday, Oct. 29 at 10:30.  Bring your pumpkin and creative ideas to the gym for 10:30 ( lasts about an hour).  It is our hope that each student will have a family member to share this experience, but we understand the "busy"ness of life. Children will be joined with friends in such cases so that ALL can take part.  We do not wear costumes but all are encouraged to dress in Halloween colors as part of the festivities!  Students will perform poems and songs for your entertainment following the viewing of Pumpkins.  THIS IS MY FAVORITE of our many gatherings at Napan! Hope to see you there to partake.  In the afternoon we will have a bit of a celebration, please take note of our school wellness goal and the pamphlet that went home re. Healthy Halloween!

What a splendid day we had at Croft Elementary on Friday.   The children enjoyed a fun day filled with lots of information.  The displays were well done and the staff and students deserve much praise for such a huge undertaking.  Thanks for sharing it with us!       minds/construction                 Our Language arts structure is based on the concept of the Daily 5, as presented by the 2 sisters Joan Moser and Gail Boushey.  Napan Elementary adoped the "5 choice" framework last year as our way to teach reading strategies to our youngsters.  This helps, foster independence and a love of reading by providing them with many opportunities to practice, make choices as well as build reading stamina.  Students have learned how to Read to Self and are practicing techniques of Read to Someone.
